... Primary Election Committee Clarifies Final Declaration Process
The Chairman of the National Assembly Primary Election Committee in Ogun State, Comrade Phillips Shuaibu announced the final results on Tuesday at the party secretariat in Abeokuta, the state capital.
However, he clarified that that the announcements of National Assembly winners in the state, were only based on results collated from various wards and constituencies, stressing that the committee was still verifying the results and reviewing complaints arising from the exercise.
Shuaibu added that a comprehensive report on the elections would be submitted to the party leadership before any official declaration is made through the appropriate communication channels.
"No winner will be declared until all result-related appeals have been properly reviewed. We have already communicated this position to everyone involved.
“The National Working Committee of our party, together with the state leadership, has gone around the state and all the constituencies, overseeing the federal and local government elections. We are fully committed to the process, and directives have been issued in line with the electoral laws and party guidelines.”
Abiodun, according to the results announced polled 75,553 votes to defeat the serving senator, Gbenga Daniel who got 438 and Buraimoh Bukola who scored 35 votes.
Shuaibu also announced the serving Senator Representing Ogun Central, Senator Shuaibu Afolabi Salisu as the highest scorer of votes defeating three others; Sen.Gbenga Obadara,Sen.Ibikunke Amosun, Muraina banjoko and Emmanuel Sofela.
In Ogun West Senatorial district, Hon.Jimoh Ojugbele was announced with 88611 votes.
Shuaibu, while detailing the votes, stated that Ojugbele was the consensus candidate in the Ogun West but in line with the Party guidelines, voters came out for affirmation.
