The Ogun State Police Command's Anti-Kidnapping Unit has neutralized a kidnapping kingpin in a forest along the Abeokuta-Ibadan Expressway. The operation recovered an AK-47 rifle, 20 rounds of ammunition, ₦2 million, and mobile phones.
The police action followed the release of a kidnapped victim, abducted on May 14, 2026, at Nufats Fuel Station, Odeda Area, Ogun State. The victim was released unharmed on May 18, 2026.
Operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Squad intensified efforts to apprehend the gang responsible. On May 19, 2026, they stormed the kidnappers' hideout, leading to a gun duel.
The police responded with superior firepower, neutralizing the kingpin. Other gang members fled with gunshot injuries.
Recovered items include an AK-47 rifle, ₦2 million, and two mobile phones. The kingpin's body was taken to a morgue for autopsy.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, commended the operatives' gallantry and professionalism. He reiterated the command's commitment to combating kidnapping and violent crimes.
