Primaries: APC Ogun Central Ward Chairmen Back Senator Omoyayi for Re-election

Ahead of the APC Ogun Central Senatorial Primary Election slated for Monday, May 18, 2026, all 74 ward chairmen within the Ogun Central Senatorial District have unanimously endorsed the incumbent, Senator Shuaib Afolabi Salisu, for a second term.

The endorsement was made during a press briefing held on Sunday at the MKO Abiola Stadium in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.

The chairmen explained that the collective decision was reached following deep consultations and a thorough review of the lawmaker's first-term outstanding performance. They lauded Senator Omoyayi's impactful strides in legislative duties, grassroots representation, and various empowerment programs. "We believe a second term will enable him to consolidate on these achievements and deliver even greater benefits to our people," Alhaji Olaleye stated.

Corroborating the declaration, Comrade Matthew Sopade, the State Chairman of all APC ward chairmen in Ogun State, reaffirmed the total commitment of the grassroots leadership to the senator's second-term bid. The leadership further revealed that Senator Omoyayi enjoys the backing of the executive and party hierarchy, identifying him as the consensus choice of Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun CON, apex leaders, and party stalwarts across the district's six local government areas: Ifo, Ewekoro, Abeokuta North, Abeokuta South, Obafemi-Owode, and Odeda.

They urged all party loyalists to unite behind the incumbent, emphasizing that a second term for Senator Omoyayi would guarantee sustained collaboration with Governor Abiodun's administration and the state's governorship consensus candidate, Senator Olalekan Solomon Adeola, to foster rapid development across Ogun State.

The joint declaration was formally signed by both Alhaji Olayiwola Olaleye and Comrade Matthew Sopade on behalf of the 74 ward chairmen.
