Ogun 2027: ‘Let’s Unite, Not Fight’ – Amosun Tells APC Members as He Meets Yayi

 

 

Former Ogun State Gov. Sen. Ibikunle Amosun on Friday, called for unity within the All Progressives Congress, urging members to resolve differences and focus on winning the 2027 general elections.

Amosun made the appeal during a meeting at his Ibara GRA residence in Abeokuta with the party’s Ogun governorship candidate, Sen. Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi.

“We need to go out and do the necessary work. We should not concentrate on disagreements but find a way to unite. We still have time, and by God’s grace, we will come together before the election” Amosun told reporters.

The former governor stressed the need for reconciliation and collective action, saying the APC has enough time to settle internal disagreements. He expressed confidence that stakeholders would unite in the party’s interest and hinted that his support for the APC candidate “should not be in doubt.”

Amosun said a larger political gathering would be held later for broader consultations and discussions.

Adeola, who was accompanied by his running mate Mrs. Kudirat Abiodun Adegunwa-Balogun, described the visit as a courtesy call on one of the party’s leaders. He said it marked the beginning of consultations with stakeholders across the state ahead of the 2027 governorship election.

The candidate said Amosun assured him of understanding and support, and that another scheduled visit would give the former governor an opportunity to address the media and party members in more detail.

Adeola said he was satisfied with the outcome of the meeting, noting that the atmosphere reflected unity and optimism within the APC.

Also present at the meeting were former Inspector General of Police Kayode Egbetokun, House of Representatives member representing Yewa-North/Imeko-Afon Federal Constituency Hon. Gboyega Nasir Isiaka, and other party members.
