Abeokuta 10KM Race: Kits Collection Begins Three Days To Showdown
With just three days to the 2026 Abeokuta 10KM Race, registered runners have commenced collection of their race kits ahead of the much-anticipated road event scheduled for Saturday, October 3, in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
The kits collection got underway on Wednesday, 30th September at the parking lot of the MKO Abiola Sports Arena, Kuto, Abeokuta, with runners turning up to collect their running bibs and other materials provided by the organisers.
Organisers of the race, Nilayo Sports Management Limited (NSML), said the collection exercise will continue until Friday, October 2, between 9am and 5pm daily.
More than 3,000 runners have already registered for the fifth edition of the race, which is expected to attract sports administrators, enthusiasts, athletes and other residents from different walks of life.
The 10-kilometre race will commence at 7am from Macjob Grammar School, Onikolobo, Abeokuta, with the finish point at the MKO Abiola Sports Arena, Kuto.
The 2026 edition has been specifically designed to provide a platform for indigenous Nigerian athletes, with only Nigerian runners eligible to participate in the race.
Beyond its sporting significance, the Abeokuta 10KM Race is also expected to showcase the cultural and historic heritage of the Ogun State capital, while providing opportunities for small-scale businesses and residents to benefit from the influx of participants and visitors.
