Sons and daughters of Keesan Orile in Abeokuta North Local Government Area of Ogun State have begun preparations for the town’s December celebration, with a call for indigenes living outside the community to return home and contribute to its development.
The call was made during a meeting between the youths of the town and the High Chief, Abiodun Adeyemi, as part of efforts to mobilise residents and indigenes ahead of the forthcoming Keesan Orile Day.
The meeting, which focused on unity, development and participation, stressed the importance of reconnecting with the community and identifying with Keesan Orile, irrespective of where individuals currently reside.
Adeyemi urged sons and daughters of the town to embrace the traditional saying, “Ile labo sinmi oko,” emphasising the need for indigenes to return home and support the development of their ancestral community.
The meeting also called on indigenes who have been identifying themselves with Ayetoro or Abeokuta to proudly associate themselves with Keesan Orile and participate actively in activities aimed at advancing the town.
The Keesan Orile Day planning committee, according to the meeting, has commenced preparations for the December celebration, which is expected to feature various activities and attract sons and daughters of the community from different locations.
As part of the programme, an aso ebi will be adopted for the celebration, while a development project is also expected to be launched during the event.
The organisers further resolved that the format adopted during the previous celebration two years ago would largely be maintained, with families expected to play prominent roles during the grand finale.
They urged all families from Keesan Orile to prepare to attend the grand finale and establish their respective stands on the field as part of efforts to showcase the unity and strength of the community.
Beyond the festivities, the meeting identified electricity, healthcare and education as major areas of development requiring collective attention.
The participants said the development agenda would provide an opportunity for individuals, families and corporate organisations connected to Keesan Orile to contribute towards improving the living conditions of residents.
The organisers expressed optimism that the December celebration would not only provide an opportunity for social reunion but also strengthen the bond between Keesan Orile and its sons and daughters while setting the stage for further development of the community.
