Team Nigeria’s boxing contingent is set to depart the country for the 2026 African Elite Men’s and Women’s Boxing Championships scheduled to hold in Nairobi, Kenya, from October 15 to 28.
The competition will bring together some of the continent’s finest male and female boxers, who will compete for honours at the continental championship.
The tournament, organised by the African Boxing Confederation, is expected to provide a platform for participating countries to showcase their boxing talents and test their strength against some of Africa’s best fighters.
Nigeria’s participation is expected to provide an opportunity for the country’s boxers to compete for continental recognition and demonstrate their readiness for major international competitions.
However, the names of the Nigerian boxers and their respective weight categories are yet to be announced, with the details expected to be released ahead of the competition.
The championship will run for two weeks in the Kenyan capital, with participating nations expected to field their elite male and female boxers in the quest for continental supremacy.
Team Nigeria’s performance at the competition will be closely watched as the country continues its pursuit of success in amateur boxing on the African stage.
