Organisers of the maiden RIYE U17 Boxing Circuit have assured boxing enthusiasts that the ages of all participating boxers have been thoroughly verified, insisting that no athlete outside the stipulated age range will be allowed to compete.
The organisers said documents submitted by the participating boxers to establish their actual ages had undergone thorough scrutiny as part of measures to protect the integrity of the competition and ensure a level playing field for all athletes.
With nine days to the October 30 event, the organisers urged boxing enthusiasts, coaches, parents and other stakeholders to be confident that the competition will strictly adhere to its under-17 age requirement.
The maiden edition of the RIYE U17 Boxing Circuit will hold on Friday, October 30, 2026, at the Alake Sports Centre, Ijeja, Abeokuta, bringing together 24 young boxers from Remo, Ijebu, Yewa and Egba, the four sporting zones of Ogun State.
Organised by Hon. Tunde Delu under the Young Athletes Yield Initiative (YAYI), the competition is designed to identify emerging boxing talents, provide young athletes with competitive experience and create opportunities for their development.
The circuit also adds to the growing list of age-grade sporting competitions organised by Hon. Delu through YAYI.
Beyond the bouts and prizes, the initiative seeks to provide a platform where aspiring boxers can develop their abilities, gain exposure and take important steps towards their sporting ambitions.
As the countdown continues, meet the next five young boxers expected to feature at the maiden RIYE U17 Boxing Circuit.
