A US-based paediatrician and philanthropist, Dr. Bolaji Marie Odusina, has announced her aspiration for the 2027 Ogun State governorship election, promising a people-centred development blueprint focused on healthcare, economic empowerment, and grassroots inclusion.
Odusina made the declaration on Tuesday at a Press Conference held at NUJ secretariat, Iwe irohin, Abeokuta, Ogun State Capital.

Disclosing Her 12-point agenda, "DEEDOC 2027 Ilera Ati Itesiwajo" (Health and Advancement), includes establishing fully equipped primary health centres in every ward, agro-processing hubs, and skills acquisition centres to tackle unemployment. She pledged transparency through quarterly financial disclosures and town hall engagements.
Odusina hinged her healthcare plan on maternal and child health, aiming to address gaps in skilled birth attendance and preventable deaths in rural areas. She also proposed supporting farmers with irrigation systems, subsidised inputs, and improved market access to boost agriculture.
The governorship hopeful urged voters to obtain their PVCs, stressing electoral participation is key to achieving change. She described her entry into politics as a new dynamic to the Ogun 2027 political landscape, with a focus on reform, accountability, and people-focused governance.
Odusina also emphasized that her campaign would centre on "listening to the people, as this are the set that governance must begin with".
She explained that her experience as a paediatrician and humanitarian has given her insight into the state's healthcare challenges. Adding that with over three decades of practice in Nigeria and the US, she would leverage on her expertise to drive healthcare reforms.
The 62 year old governorship hopeful while highlighted her grassroots approach to includes engaging with traditional rulers, community leaders, and youth groups to build a broad-based coalition for change. Details of her political platform will be unveiled in the coming days, as she seeks to translate her healthcare-focused agenda into political momentum.
