Tinubu Sweeps Abeokuta South APC Primary with 24,948 Votes Across 15 Wards

  

ABEOKUTA — President Bola Ahmed Tinubu secured near-unanimous support in Abeokuta South Local Government Area during the All Progressives Congress presidential primary reaffirmation exercise, polling 24,948 votes out of 24,953 accredited voters across all 15 wards.


The results were announced by Dr. Samuel Odukoya, the returning officer for the Abeokuta South LGA presidential primary, at the collation center in the presence of the LGA chairman, INEC representatives, and security operatives.


Dr. Odukoya said the exercise was conducted in all 15 political wards of the metropolitan local government, with President Tinubu running as the sole aspirant.


In Ward 1, Ake 1, Tinubu polled 1,135 votes from 1,135 accredited voters out of 1,146 registered voters. The returning officer’s announcement drew applause from the audience.


Ward 2, Ake 2, recorded 2,070 votes for the President from 2,070 accredited voters, with 2,071 persons registered. Similar patterns emerged in Ward 3, Ake 3, where Tinubu garnered 1,500 votes from 1,500 accredited voters out of 1,546 registered voters.


In Ward 4, KCDC/Emere, the President secured 1,494 votes from 1,494 accredited voters. Ward 5, Ijemo, returned 2,090 votes from 2,090 accredited voters out of 2,096 registered voters.


Itoko Ward 6 recorded 846 votes for Tinubu from 846 accredited voters. In Ward 7, Igbein, he polled 1,820 votes from 1,820 accredited voters, while Ward 8, Erunbe/Oke-Ijeun, returned 1,620 votes from 1,620 accredited voters.


Ward 9, Ago-Ijesha/Ijesha-Ife, recorded 1,508 votes from 1,510 accredited voters. Sodeke/Ijaro, Ward 10, returned 1,100 votes from 1,100 accredited voters, and Sodeke/Isale-Ijeun, Ward 11, delivered 2,309 votes from 2,309 accredited voters.


In Ward 12, Imo/Iisabo, Tinubu polled 1,800 votes from 1,800 accredited voters. Ward 13, Igbore/Ago-Oba, recorded 1,512 votes, while Ibara 1, Ward 14, and Ibara 2, Ward 15, returned 2,103 and 2,040 votes respectively.


Summing up, Dr. Odukoya said the total number of accredited voters across Abeokuta South was 24,953, with President Tinubu scoring 24,948 votes, falling less than 10 votes short of the total accredited figure.


He clarified that he was not empowered to declare a winner, noting that the official declaration would be made in Abuja. “But President Bola Ahmed Tinubu scored 24,948 votes—short of less than 10 of the accredited voters. He scored the majority, and I so return,” Odukoya said.
