Military plane crashes in Ondo state with 32 people aboard

Nigeria’s aviation minister Festus Keyamo said Monday that 25 passengers and seven crew members were aboard a military aircraft that crashed in southwestern Ondo state.
The aircraft came down near a naval base in the Igbokoda area of Ondo state, according to initial reports, prompting emergency and security operations at the scene.

Keyamo confirmed the number of people aboard the aircraft but did not immediately provide details on casualties or the condition of those on board.
The circumstances surrounding the crash were also not immediately clear.

The incident occurred as the aircraft was operating in the area, although authorities had yet to disclose its mission, type or destination.
Emergency responders and security personnel were expected to secure the crash site and begin search and rescue efforts.
Further details, including the identities of those aboard and the extent of damage caused by the crash, were awaited from the authorities.
Military aircraft accidents are relatively uncommon in Nigeria but have occurred in recent years, involving both training and operational flights.
Authorities are expected to launch an investigation to determine what caused Monday's crash.
More information is expected as rescue officials and the military assess the situation.
